Serra San Bruno
Serra San Bruno owes its origin to the coming of the monk Bruno of Cologne
founder of the Order of Carthusians, who devoted their life to seeking God in silence and solitude. The Count Roger the Norman donated him the lands that today are geographically identified as Altopiano delle Serre, for the construction of his hermitage, the Carthusian Monastery of Santo Stefano del Bosco, the first monastery in Italy and the second in Europe after the one in Grenoble, France.
Inside the Certosa you can visit a Museum where you can find a lot of information about its history, the monastery and the life of the monks.
